Consume-ate
Original oil painting on canvas.
Signed and dated (2017).
Size: 24 × 36 in
A figurative work examining intimacy, imbalance, and absorption.
The male figure occupies the dominant mass of the composition, intact and continuous. The female figure emerges through the upper body, her arm resting against his shoulder, yet as the forms descend her body dissolves into his. The boundary between them collapses, leaving behind a single uneven shape.
Thick impasto and saturated contour obscure separation rather than clarify it. Beneath them, a fractured reflection moves across disturbed water while fuchsia flowers drift at the surface, marking the scene without softening it.
The work explores closeness carried to its limit — where union begins to resemble consumption.
